Celebrating Every Mom's Journey: Meet Linda Chen

Celebrating Every Mom's Journey: Meet Linda Chen

INTRODUCING

Name: Linda Chen

How many kids do you have and how old are they: One daughter who is two and a half

Q: Describe your motherhood style journey

A:  My goal was to spend as little as possible on maternity attire and aim to return to a pre-pregnancy wardrobe ASAP! I bought a few pairs of black maternity leggings at the start my second trimester and styled them with baggy sweaters and cardigans through the rest of my pregnancy. Luckily, baby doll dresses were in style the spring/summer of my third trimester, so I was very glad I didn’t need to buy any additional maternity attire. Postpartum, I prioritized the ease of access for breastfeeding and pumping, and I predominantly wore loose button-downs, and paired them with maternity leggings and roomy pants.

Q: What have you learned about your style over time?

A: My preferences have definitely changed. I prioritize comfort over style since my daughter likes being carried around, and quality/versatility over quantity since closet space is precious!

Q: What clothing makes you feel very confident?

A: Simple but unique pieces that are well fitted and not overly revealing.

Q: If you could celebrate yourself for one thing, what would it be?

A: I celebrate the moments of joy and laughter shared with my children, finding balance amidst the chaos of daily life.

Q: What is one triumph in motherhood you’ve experienced?

A: Fitting back into my old jeans!

Don’t stop prioritizing yourself. Taking care of yourself will enable you to be a better parent for your children

Q: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

A: The same principles I’m living by today: Don’t stop prioritizing yourself. Taking care of yourself will enable you to be a better parent for your children:

  • Don’t sacrifice your career
  • Don’t stop hanging out with friends
  • Don’t skip date nights

Q: If you could describe yourself as a mom in one word, what would it be?

A: Approachable. I want my daughter to be my friend and shopping buddy when she grows up.

Every month, we highlight a mom from the A Million Lilies community to discuss motherhood. Because, amidst the struggles of taking care of our children, we feel the most seen and supported after speaking to a fellow #momfriend. We hope sharing stories of women like us can help encourage other moms in their stage of motherhood too. If you want to share your motherhood story with us, please contact us at hello@amlilies.com
