INTRODUCING
How many kids do you have and how old are they: I have two kids, a four year old and a two year old.
Q: Describe your motherhood style journey
A: My motherhood style journey has changed drastically over the past three years. Once I became a stay at home mother I didn’t see the need to get dressed up and ready when I was going to be at home all day with the kids.
My go-to clothes are joggers or active leggings, easy pullover sweaters and sneakers. In between the morning rush to get ready for school and activities I don’t have as much time for myself to get ready.
As of recently, I have been making more of an effort into what I choose to wear and not just reaching for that legging and sweater combo. It truly does make me feel better as I’m hopping in and out of the car from school, to the grocery and all around town.
Q: What have you learned about your style over time?
A: Over time I have learned that my style has matured and changed with me to meet my needs. In my twenties I loved following the trends and chose brighter colors and now in my thirties I’m following trends less and going for styles/colors that are long lasting and lean more classic.
Q: What's your style like now?
A: My style now is eclectic - contemporary infused with vintage and street aesthetic.
Q: What clothing makes you feel very confident?
A: The clothing that makes me feel very confident are oversized blazers and button downs, especially pieces that are vintage, or in a special design/color.
Q: If you could celebrate yourself for one thing, what would it be?
A: If I could celebrate myself for one thing, it would be for giving birth to my children! One of the hardest and most transformative times in my life. I’m forever grateful for my mind, body and spirit during pregnancy, giving birth and everything thereafter such as postpartum recovery or breastfeeding each child and adjusting my diet to meet my children's dietary needs/restrictions.
Q: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
A: It would be to believe in yourself. You can and you will do it well, you know your children best.
Q: What is one triumph in motherhood you’ve experienced?
A: One triumph in motherhood that I’ve experienced is (and is still on-going) organization. Organizing each person’s routine, including my own, along with household chores and maintenance. I’m at the stage in my motherhood journey where my children are babies/toddlers and their growth and development is ever changing as is their routine, and in the past year I feel like I have a better grasp on how to handle our schedule everyday.
If I could give my younger self who was raising two kids one piece of advice, it would be to believe in yourself. You can and you will do it well, you know your children best.
Q: If you could describe yourself as a mom in one word, what would it be?
A: Devoted--I strive to be as loving as I can be, to ensure my children know that I love them no matter what.
Every month, we highlight a mom from the A Million Lilies community to discuss motherhood. Because, amidst the struggles of taking care of our children, we feel the most seen and supported after speaking to a fellow #momfriend. We hope sharing stories of women like us can help encourage other moms in their stage of motherhood too. If you want to share your motherhood story with us, please contact us at hello@amlilies.com
